Install on Android

Requirements

Android 7.0 or later. The app is distributed as an APK from GitHub, not through a store.

Install the APK

Open the download page on the phone and download the Android file. Tap the finished download. Android asks once whether your browser may install apps; allow it, then confirm the installation. Play Protect may show a warning because the app did not come from the store.

Updates

The app compares its version with the published manifest when it starts and once a day, and when it returns to the foreground on a new day. If a newer build exists, it offers the download; Android's installer completes the update over the existing app and keeps your data.

Permissions

  • Notifications, for reminders at the times you set. Reminders fire even when the app is closed.
  • Usage access, only if you switch on phone-usage import on the Tracking page. The app then reads Android's own daily usage statistics per app; nothing else.

Your data

The database lives in the app's private storage and is backed up before any structural update, five copies deep. Uninstalling the app removes it; export a CSV first if you want to keep the records.
