Install on Windows

Requirements

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The app uses Microsoft Edge WebView2, which Windows 11 includes; on Windows 10 the setup program fetches it if it is missing.

Run the setup program

Download the Windows setup from the download page and run it. It installs for the current user, no administrator rights needed, and starts the app.

The SmartScreen notice

The installer is not yet signed with a publisher certificate. Windows therefore shows "Windows protected your PC" with an unknown publisher. Choose "More info", then "Run anyway". Compare the file's SHA-256 digest with the one shown on the GitHub release if you want to be sure of what you downloaded. Signed releases will remove this step.

Updates

The app checks for a new version when it starts and once a day. When one exists it asks before installing and restarts afterwards. Settings → General → Version and updates shows the installed version, the last check and a button to check now.

Where your data lives

The database is a single file in your local application data folder, under the app's identifier. Before any update that changes the database structure the app copies the file into a backups folder next to it and keeps the newest five copies. Nothing is synchronised to a cloud.

Start with Windows and the tray

Settings → General offers "Start with Windows" and "Minimise to tray". The tray menu opens the app, starts a new entry, or quits it.

Uninstall

Settings → Apps → Installed apps → timely-you → Uninstall. The database and its backups stay in the application data folder until you delete them yourself.
